We focus on
Atomically Precise Nanomaterials

J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2024, 146, 13519; Nat. Commun. 2023, 14, 3790; PNAS, 2021, 118, e2105722118
We aim to control not only what nanomaterials are made of, but also how their atoms are arranged. By directing their composition, crystal structure, morphology, and interfaces, we create complex nanomaterials with precisely defined structures. This allows us to understand how small structural changes can lead to major differences in materials properties and catalytic performance.
High-Throughput Synthesis

J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2022, 144, 4792; ACS Nano 2023, 17, 4642; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2020, 142, 4570
We build high-throughput platforms to synthesize and screen large numbers of nanomaterials in parallel. Instead of studying one material at a time, we systematically explore broad composition, structure, and processing spaces. This approach accelerates the discovery of new materials and reveals synthesis trends that are difficult to identify through conventional experiments.
AI-Driven Materials Discovery

Nat. Synth. 2026, 5, 489; Nat. Synth. 2024, 3, 922 ; Small, 2026, e74471
We combine high-throughput experiments, computation, and machine learning to accelerate the discovery of new materials. AI helps uncover hidden design rules and predict promising compositions and structures before extensive experimentation. Ultimately, we aim to make materials discovery faster, smarter, and more predictive.
